This week the second graders are going on field trips to the VMFA. While we are there, we are going to spend some quality time with three different kinds of art. First we are drawing in the sculpture garden and experiencing the amazing landscaping that the VMFA has around the garden.
Second, we are going into the museum and spending some time with the African exhibit. We are looking at the masks of the Kuba culture from Africa. Students are doing an art scavenger hunt while we are there, finding beaded shoes, painted masks, and art that is taller than they are.
Third we are spending a few minutes visiting the Tristan Lowe Whale exhibit. Students are really enjoying the different types of art that the VMFA has to offer.
