First Grade Sept. 12-16

In first grade this week, students are looking at the ways that different artists use maps to express themselves. They use maps to create a sense of place and tell a story. The artist Annabel Faraday uses maps on clay.

The artist Elizabeth LeCourt folds and cuts maps to create clothes.

In Ms. Kinnaman’s class, the students examine maps, they look at the size of them, the colors, and what is written on them.

Destin explores the size and feel of the map that he is examining.

Altarique alters this map, donated to us by the visitor’s bureau. Next week we will alter all of the maps, adding colors and designs and then cut them up to use in collages.

Ned loves the hills!

Lily loves New York. She made the Empire State building with her map.

Nicholas loves being on the bus! He made a bus with his map.
